Cause Communications

Since 1999 we have successfully used analysis and creativity to educate and/or train over 15,000 nonprofit leaders in the tactics of high impact communications to advance positive social change. Cause Communications shares and elevates best practices from all sectors and explores how to apply them effectively in the social sector. Be sure to take a look at our free resources for nonprofits.

Cause just turned 10 years old! For an at-a-glance look at where we've been and where we're going, download our 10-Year Accomplishment Report.

Our Social Entrepreneurial Roots
We are a nonprofit that was incubated by a communications firm that focuses on the nonprofit sector. Over the years we had learned lots about using marketing and communications to make a difference and wanted to share. Idea Lab

It is our great pleasure to announce that Jan Kern has joined the team at Cause Communications, lending her valued experience and insights to our mission of Communications for Good. As Senior Advisor on connecting and convening, Jan’s role will continue to build upon the best practices tools and trainings that Cause has provided to the nonprofit sector over the last decade.

Many nonprofits and foundations are only beginning to realize the crucial role strategic communications plays in the formation of relationships, positions and funding streams. It is in the earliest stages, however, that an initiative’s success is mapped. The complex processes of bringing people together around critical issues, building cohesive platforms and moving all parties to action hinges on productive communication, effective facilitation and passion in spades.

Jan brings all of this and more to the table. Her expertise includes:

Shaping
-  Identifying the issue
-  Getting the right people around the table
-  Setting initial goals

Synthesizing
-  Finding common language
-  Sharing lessons learned and best practices
-  Distilling early trends

Facilitating/Convening
-  Encouraging conversations
-  Bridge activities
-  Finding common ground
-  Connecting like-minded partners
-  Maintaining momentum

Building
-  Leveraging resources
-  Attracting diverse funding streams
-  Enlisting broad-base community participation
-  Turning research into action agendas

We are looking forward to great things for Cause Communications and our nonprofit partners. Please contact us to find out how you can get involved.
