Communitas Award 2010 – Leadership in Community Service and Corporate Social Responsibility
Hershey|Cause is thrilled to announce that R. Christine Hershey has won the 2010 Communitas Award for Leadership in Community Service and Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Communitas Awards, a pro bono recognition program of the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), is an international effort to recognize exceptional businesses, organizations and individuals that are unselfishly giving of themselves and their resources, and those that are changing how they do business to benefit their communities.

The need for communitas – a Latin word that means people helping people for the benefit of their community – has never been more important as society battles the social and environmental issues of poverty, illiteracy, pollution and dwindling natural resources. Benevolent companies, their employees, community organizations and individuals worldwide are contributing skills and resources to take on these challenges.

Companies are placing additional emphasis on ethics, making a concerted effort to be green and are promoting sustainability. Many also have a keen interest in how workers are treated in their supply chain, whom they and their suppliers do business with, and the effects their products have on the environment.

Her dedication to shaping and embodying these business and social values over the past three decades, paired with her commitment to bringing together collaborators from corporate, nonprofit and government sectors to create sustainable change, make Chris a model of communitas in action.
