Los Angeles Urban League
Since 1921, Los Angeles Urban League has been “Empowering Communities, Changing Lives.” Building upon nearly a century of work on behalf of Los Angeles residents, the Urban League helps minorities secure economic equity and civil rights through advocacy, programs and services.
Hershey|Cause assisted the Urban League in a range of fundraising efforts, in particular, revitalizing the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Awards Dinner – the organization’s signature event – which it has held for three decades. With attendance and donations shrinking, the event needed a significant boost. Hershey|Cause provided fundraising counsel and event-planning services, and created partnerships with major new corporate sponsors.
Hershey|Cause’s new approach to reaching and attracting attendees, along with providing compelling collateral materials, helped significantly reposition and raise the profile of the event. The dinner now raises approximately $5 million each year for the Urban League’s vitally important work and is one of Los Angeles’ most anticipated annual events.
