Design Eye-Q

Your organization relies on graphic design every day to make your Web site stand out, your newsletters engaging, your direct mail compelling. It may also rely on you to decide which designs are approved and which go back to the drawing board.

The expertise you bring to those decisions is what we call your "Eye-Q." The better your Eye-Q, the better equipped you are to decide what works, what doesn't, and why.

Design Eye-Q is a new initiative created precisely to prepare you for those moments. Design Eye-Q provides tips and guidance that will elevate your knowledge of graphic design basics to make sure your communications look as good as your cause!
Elements include:

  • LEARN the 10 questions to ask when evaluating new Web pages, e-newsletters, annual reports, direct mail, or any other professionally designed communication pieces.
  • REVIEW examples of graphic design work evaluated by experts.
  • EMERGE with new confidence that when you're asked to approve or comment on any new design, you'll make the decision that best serves your organization.

Design Eye-Q was developed by Andy Goodman and R. Christine Hershey, who brought you “Why Bad Ads Happen to Good Causes,” “Why Bad Presentations Happen to Good Causes” and “The Communications Toolkit: A guide to navigating the nonprofit.”
